What exists, what’s coming

Vando is built in three releases, named by who each is useful to. V1 Me, V2 Us, V3 Us + AI. We are in V1, in early access. This page says what works and what doesn’t, and we update it as things change.

V1 Me: being built now

Useful to one person, on their own devices.

Works today

  • The phone app on Android: sign up, save passwords, notes, API keys, files and one-time codes.
  • The four levels (Easy, Just me, Two devices, Fort Knox), with security keys for Fort Knox.
  • Vaults and folders.
  • The recovery kit, with its 48-hour wait and alarms.
  • Autofill on the phone.
  • The laptop extension for Chrome: fill and save logins by asking your phone, and trust a laptop for a while.
  • Claude Code: the guard on risky commands, and asking for a secret through your phone. Set it up.
  • Secrets for your programs on a laptop: vando run gives a command its secrets for a time you pick on your phone (once, an hour, a day), vando init brings a whole project's .env files into your vault with one approval, and vando doctor checks the setup. One secret · A whole project.
  • The Inbox, approvals and signed receipts.

Being built

  • A published vando package, so connecting Claude Code needs no copy of the code.
  • Cloud sessions: the same, for an AI that runs in the cloud instead of on your laptop.
  • One “You’ll need” screen before the steps on every approval, and one ask card that looks the same for every kind of ask.
  • Clearer words for asks that ran out.
  • Moving to a new phone, and the import and export screens.
  • iPhone. It runs in Apple’s simulator today; a real-iPhone build needs an Apple developer account first.

None of this is in the app stores yet.

V2 Us: later

Useful to you and your people.

  • Connect to family, a partner or a friend, in person.
  • Share a thing with them, with its lock.
  • Ask “is this really them?” and have their phone answer, when a message claims to be from someone you know.
  • People you trust helping you get back in.

V3 Us + AI: later

Useful to you, your people, and the AIs that act for you.

  • More AIs than Claude Code, including ones that run in the cloud.
  • Payments with limits: an allowance an AI can spend without asking each time, only at shops you choose.
  • Short-lived cloud keys: for AWS and others, a narrow key for one job that stops working by itself, so nothing long-lived is left to leak.

After that

Specified, not scheduled: guardians and emergency access, organisations, and more ways to prove it’s you.
